Pregnancy bola is based on traditional amulets that were placed around the neck or sewn onto clothing to protect the wearer from evil forces since prehistoric times. Especially people who were vulnerable - children, pregnant women or women after childbirth. In the past, magical protective objects were put into such amulets - pieces of dried herbs, cloth with drops of blood or bones. The tradition of pregnant women wearing these bells is still current in several places around the world, for example in Latin America.
Today, pregnancy bolas are once again becoming a popular piece of jewellery that expectant mothers hang around their necks up to their tummies to communicate with their babies. It can also be hung on the baby stroller or above the newborn's crib.
The pentagram is an important magical sign symbolizing the union of the four elements (water, earth, air and fire) with the fifth element - spirit (ether, akasha).
